Blue Ant Trilogy
I recently read all the books in William Gibson’s Blue Ant Trilogy: Pattern Reignition, Spook Country and Zero History. Gibson has stretched out with these novels, veering away from his usual Science Fiction/Cyber Punk themes, writing what could best be described as post modern detective stories. While he is probably most famous for his fist book Neuromancer, I think he has become a much better writer as time has went on.
These stories certainly have elements of science fiction in them – a heroine who is allergic to brands and logos, artists who use geo spatial technology to create new art forms, and former rocker in search for a secret clothing brand so exclusive that it can only be bought by people in the know at random locations. All the stories examine the increasing dominance of corporate espionage and its interaction with old fashion spys in the post cold war world.
