Carnegie and Greenaway Medals Awarded

The 2013 Carnegie and Greenaway Medals were awarded to honour exemplary writing and illustration in children’s literature. Sally Gardner won the Carnegie Medal for Maggot Moon, published by Hot Key Books, and Levi Pinfold won the Kate Greenaway medal for Black Dog, published by Templar Publishing. Both books were commended for their ability to tell ‘tales of triumph over terror’. The authors were awarded a gold medal and £500 to donate to a library of their choice.

The awards were presented by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and the full shortlist for the award can be viewed here.
