How to Be a Woman
Caitlin Moran is quite famous in the UK apparently, but not too well known here. I think How To Be a Woman will change this. I laughed a lot while reading it- enough to ensure I got a seat to myself on the tram most days. I wasn’t too enamoured of her tendency to make a POINT with HUGE SHOUTY CAPITALS on almost every page, but the writing is sharp and engaging enough to let me gloss over this stylistic quibble and keep both laughing and thinking. I had a lot of “Yes! Precisely!” moments as I was reading. I love those moments. It’s so nice to be agreed with!
An essential book for anybody who suspects that being a modern woman is both more complicated and far more excellent than trying your best to look like a Kardashian sister. Hooray!
