Let’s get lyrical!
Calling all poets… The ACU Prize for Literature is a new literary prize recently launched by the Australian Catholic University. The prize aims to support writers and continue the Catholic Church’s involvement in the arts (and you don’t have to be Catholic to enter, either!).
This year, the competition is for poem entries (though future years may include other forms of literature) and the theme is ‘everyday imminence’. So, tap into your divine spirituality and get those words a-flowing.
The comp is open to students and staff of ACU, as well as all citizens or permanent residents of Australia. Any international student who is studying at an Australian university is also eligible, though the poem must be in English!
Enough of the formalities, now for the part you really want to know about – the prizes. Well, warm up your writing hand guys and girls, the hefty cash prizes are as follows: $7,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place. Yew!
So hurry and get penning – entries opened on 29 April and are due to close Sunday 30 June. For more information on entering and T&Cs visit the ACU website.
