Passion + study = success!

A wise man once said “Do not just study to earn, but to learn”. Of course, that wise man was me. The first lesson about studying is to continue to learn, because learning never ends.

So, how can you study effectively and consequently learn for a lifetime? Reading aloud, making visual notes, questioning who, when and how, and reading the questions over and over again are all great techniques. Getting ready with shiny new stationery is also encouraging, as we all know things like highlighters and notepads can work miracles. Or you could check out one of the Co-op’s many study guides to help you along!

But, at the end of the day, you have to want to be doing what you’re doing to get your desired outcome, and to study effectively you need to have a passion. Now what triggers that passion is personal – mine is looking at the long-term goals like a career and a high academic life. Or perhaps it is wanting to show to my HSC Chemistry teacher that I am soaring through uni and am better than they thought. In short – a passion will always vary from person to person.

Additionally, being a student or employee can put you under pressure to manage time. You’ll often wish that if you had an extra hour, you’d be able to cram in so much more. That’s why it is so important to manage that precious time effectively when studying, to ensure the best outcome – success!

Effective study is a matter of how much you are willing to put in; it is an asset that you invest into. So if you think you are bad at studying, do not give up – just keep persisting and remember why you’re doing what you’re doing!
