‘The Australian Moment’ Wins 2012 Walkley Book Award

The Australian Moment: How We Were Made For These Times by George Megalogenis won the 2012 Walkley Book Award, which recognises achievment and excellence in Australian non fiction and long-form journalism. The Australian moment examines the evolution of Australia as a nation from the 1970s to the present day.

“Combining his fine gift for analysing economic trends with enviable access to the handful of surviving prime ministers, George Megalogenis tells a great Australian story,” the Walkley Book Award judges said of The Australian Moment.

Also shortlisted for the award with Robin de Crespigny’s biography The People Smuggler: The True Story of Ali Al Jenabi and Paul Cleary’s non-fiction Mine-Field: The Dark Side of Australia’s Resources Rush
