‘The Light Between Oceans’ Wins Booksellers Choice Award

The winner of the 2013 ABA Nielsen BookData Booksellers Choice Award was announced at  the Australian Booksellers Association annual conference in Adelaide last weekend. The award (which we were lucky enough to vote in!) was presented to M L Stedman for her work The Light Between Oceans. The novel was selected from a shortlist of five titles which included QF32 (Richard de Crespigny), The Essential Leunig: Cartoons from a Winding Path (Michael Leunig), The 26-Storey Treehouse (Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton) and The Secret Keeper (Kate Morton).

Our very own CEO Peter Knock spoke at the conference on the Co-op’s transition from being primarily a bookshop, to including a wide product range to cater to students, academics and the general public. The Slap author Christos Tsiolkas spoke also about his upcoming book Barracuda, and even received a standing ovation from the audience! Bravo!

Congratulations to all who were shortlisted, and of course the winner for The Light Between Oceans.
