Women of Style

Instyle Magazine and Audi hosted it’s annual ‘Women of Style’ Awards  on Tuesday 14th May. Women of Style honours influential and inspiring Australian women. Designer Carla Zampatti was recognised in the Fashion category:

 I believe in life; each day I want to achieve something. Fashion can be regarded as frivolous but it adds value and happiness to people’s lives.

Amongst the star studden evening of awards, Canberra based, Miles Franklin Winning author Anna Funder won the Arts and Culture Award.

“I’m inspired by people of conscience and courage; this is reflected in my books, which are about people who stand up for what they believe, no matter the consequences.”

Funder is the author of Stasiland and All That I Am, a riveting drama set in Nazi occupied Germany in 1933. It was the winner of a number of prestigious awards, including book of the year and the Miles Franklin Literary Award. Funder, a former Human Rights lawyer, is now based in New York, working with international organisations that aid writers in opressive countries.

The Beauty Award was presented to ‘Nads’ founder Sue Ismiel

I was born in Syria where it’s believed a woman can’t succeed without a man in her life. I’m proud, having proved to my daughters that gender has nothing to do with success.

With the Women of Style awards celebrating great Aussie women, it’s not a surprise that Academy Award winning actress, Nicole Kidman was inducted into the Hall of Fame Award.
